London - English leaders Manchester United and Arsenal each picked up 5-0 victories Saturday to push the two sides five points clear of the chasing pack in the Premier League.
Manchester United got three goals from Teddy Sheringham and two from Andy Cole in the thrashing of Southampton at Old Trafford.
Arsenal, with two goals from Thierry Henry and solos from Dennis Bergkamp, Sylvain Wiltord and Ashley Cole made it a long afternoon in north London for Manchester City.
The Gunners's job was made earier when Manchester City's Danny Tiatto was sent off on his second yellow card in the 43rd minute with all of Arsenal's goals coming with Man City down to 10 men.
With Manchester United and Arsenal on 24 points _ Manchester United leads on goal difference _ Leicester moved into third with 19 points with a 2-1 home victory over last-place Derby. Derby remains the only club in the 20-team league without a victory.
Newly promoted Ipswich moved even on points with Liverpool with 18 after a 2-1 home victory over Middlesbrough.
Chelsea picked up two goals from red-hot Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink one on a penalty in a 3-0 home victory over Tottenham. Chelsea has 16 points, the same total as Aston Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland.
West Ham got its first home victory of the season with a 73rd-minute goal from Frederic Kanoute as the Hammers won 1-0 in London over Newcastle.
In the day's other match, Sunderland won 1-0 at home over Coventry, meaning all eight matches Saturday were won by the home side.
In the English first division, Watford took the lead with a 2-2 draw at Wolverhampton. Bradford, with 36 points, remained the only undefeated team in the first division. Fulham played a 3-3 draw at Sheffield Wednesday and holds second with 35 points.

In Scotland, Celtic kept its hold on first place with 34 points despite a day off. Hibernian won 1-0 at Dundee United and moved into second place with 34 points. Defending champions Rangers lost their third straight game, going down 3-0 at home against Kilmarnock. In other games: Dumfermline 1, Dundee 0; Hearts 0, St. Johnstone 3; St. Mirren 2, Aberdeen 0.
